His commitment to “leave no one behind” resonates deeply with HEART 9/11 members. HEART 9/11 - Rebuilding Africatown, AL with NY Mets Great Cleon Jones

HEART 9/11 is deploying 30 skilled firefighters, law enforcement, and building trades members to Africatown, Alabama, the hometown of 1969 “Miracle Mets” team member Cleon Jones, to rebuild 8-12 homes in collaboration with his non-profit, The Last Out Community Foundation.

Africatown is a historic community north of Mobile, formed by a group of West Africans who, in 1860, were bought and transported against their will in the last known illegal shipment of enslaved people to the United States.

Cleon’s mission is to see his hometown of Africatown prosper for future generations. We can make this Miracle Met’s dream a reality with your support.

HEART 9/11 Presents the 2nd Annual 9/12 Tribute

An evening of reflection and resilience: join us as we pay tribute to New York’s 9/11 recovery mission workers and the pandemic’s frontline heroes to benefit HEART 9/11’s mission to use our grit and experience to aid those in need.

From the devastation of September 11, when members of the FDNY, NYPD, PAPD, and Greater New York Building trades rushed toward the destruction to assist however they could, to September 12, when these same individuals began the arduous, courageous and dangerous mission of finding survivors and recovering those who were lost. From early spring of 2020, as New York City once again became Ground Zero of what would become a global pandemic - to the days, weeks, and years to follow that saw selfless essential workers and first responders again answering the call to save their fellow New Yorkers.

When there is always the choice of giving in to fear and retreating into the darkness, New Yorkers always choose to fight back.

Join HEART 9/11 as we honor those who choose to fight back and help make our world safer, more compassionate, and more resilient.

The evening will include:

• Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes - known for their hit songs “Talk To Me,” “Having a Party,” and “Fever” - will headline the event

• Bobby Allende and Ocho y Mas with special guest Nelson Gonzalez will perform

• The Tony Award-winning cast of “Come From Away”

• Presentation of the first Steven Southwick MD Resiliency Award for demonstrating outstanding courage in the face of overwhelming odds

• Master of Ceremonies Dave Price - NBC 4 New York Weather Anchor

HEART 9/11 Presents the SMART Program at the 2022 NASRO Conference

HEART 9/11 presented "Stress Management and Resiliency Training (SMART) for First Responders" at the 2022 National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) conference in Aurora, CO. This program provides first responders with self-care tools to decrease, regain a sense of control, and enhance their quality of life. The SMART program teaches stress warning signs, coping strategies, mindful awareness, how to create an adaptive perspective, and embracing a healing state of mind. Agencies benefit by first responders having more reasoned decision making, enhanced performance, increased productivity, improved interactions with the community, better relationships with colleagues, and a reduction in sick time. This program is based on scientific research and has a proven clinical efficacy record. It can be used as a pro-active healthcare educational tool or a reactive tool for veteran officers experiencing a critical incident or the effects of the cumulative job experiences.
