HEART 9/11 has come to recognize the overwhelming health needs of first responders and building trades members due to their line of duty illness or injuries, especially those caused by 9/11 participation. Through the R2R program, we will utilize our veteran home build experience to address the needs of our first responders.

HEART 9/11 is providing the expert skilled labor, comprised of NYCDCC Local 15needed to remodel an injured 10 year Navy veteran and volunteer firefighter's home, leveling floors along with dormer, window and sliding door work. On January 11, Amtrak employee Robert Zimmerman was severely shocked when he touched a catenary line carrying 12,000 volts while at work and lost his hands. He has had multiple surgeries. The HEART 9/11 Veteran Rebuild team is onsite getting the work done and honored to be part of Robert’s recovery.
