HEART 9/11 Bahamas Training/Rebuild Program

HEART 9/11 partnered with the University of The Bahamas, Revelation Faith Apostolic Ministries, Ride for Hope, and Templeton Religion Trust to offer two 10-week “Safety in The Workplace” construction training programs. This course reviewed common hazards and safety techniques on the worksite. After completion of the course, participants have the tools to help them create workplace Safety policies.

Classroom instruction included OSHA 10, mathematics, CPR, first aid, construction safety, tool familiarization, and additional construction skills. Professional carpenter instructors conducted hands-on training while students rebuilt homes damaged by Hurricane Dorian. HEART 9/11 was excited to begin this worthwhile endeavor to “teach a person to fish” while assisting their neighbor’s recovery.

To date, 31 pre-apprentices have been trained in the HEART 9/11 Bahamas Rebuilding/Training program. Training in the field allowed them to rebuild 54 roofs during the program.
