Newtown, CT Flood Response

HEART 9/11 received a request for assistance from Newtown, CT. A HEART 9/11 volunteer and retired Local 3 members neighbor's home was completely flooded in the severe storm that caused historic levels of rainfall on Sunday, August 18. The storm dumped over 13 inches of rain in 2 hours, leaving the family's first floor with 4+ feet of water and their basement totally flooded. The family lost vehicles, countless belongings and the ability to live in their home, a devastating blow that has left them in a dire situation. HEART 9/11 volunteers removed debris, furniture, sheetrock and insulation and installed new flooring.
