Typhoon Mawar Guam Response
HEART 9/11 has sent 3 teams to Guam assisting FEMA implementing an emergency home repair program to restore dwellings to a habitable condition after Typhoon Mawar hit the island in May 2023. Coastal flooding and more than a foot of rain contributed to widespread damage to infrastructure. The typhoon destroyed 593 homes and left 1,278 more severely damaged. The HEART 9/11 team of skilled volunteers conducted limited emergency repairs for the neediest survivors. Home repairs included tin roofing, electrical, doors, and plumbing.
