Responder 2 Responder Assistance Program - Gerritsen Beach, NY

HEART 9/11 installed an interior chairlift for a retired FDNY firefighter and 9/11 responder whose health has been significantly impacted by his heroic service, resulting in severe heart and lung conditions. He required assistance to maintain his independence and dignity at home.

This first responder has medical challenges that have made it extremely difficult for him to navigate his home without assistance. He was in immediate need of a stairlift for the interior staircase and an exterior residential vertical lift (installed in August). These installations are vital for him when he ventures outdoors for medical appointments and family activities.
