HEART 9/11 Responder 2 Responder - Islip, NY

HEART 9/11 assisted with the clean-up, restoration, and rebuilding of a house that was destroyed by a boiler explosion/fire in Islip, NY. The house belongs to a retired Department of Correction 9/11 Responder who used to work in the Harbor Unit. On September 11, 2001, the Harbor Units three boats rescued over 3,000 people. In the aftermath of the tragedy, this first responder also piloted a ship that transported supplies from New Jersey to the Ground Zero staging area.

We would like to express our gratitude to Epic Mechanical Contractors, Steamfitters Local Union 638, Laborers Local 78, Martin Associates and F.W. Webb Company for their support and for answering our call for help.
