HEART 9/11 arrived in Houston 24 hours after Hurricane Harvey hit to assist emergency operations, public safety command, local fire, law enforcement, and EMS with flood rescues, medical assessments and establishing contact with local Fire Departments, Police Departments, International Association of Fire Fighters, Fraternal Order of Police leaders and the Cajun Navy. As the city switched into recovery mode HEART 9/11 stripped-out 43 homes of dangerous bio-hazardous materials including sheetrock, furniture, flooring. HEART 9/11 volunteers provided 2,200 hours of skilled manpower and two fully stocked trailers of emergency and construction supplies, tools, equipment. Relationships were established with Houston PD, FOP, IAFF and Calvary Church.
