HEART 9/11 has been monitoring the situation in the aftermath of the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Ecuador last week. Today HEART 9/11 deployed a very skilled, seven-man assessment team to assist logistical support, assess the structural safety of buildings for search, entry and reuse, and to document damages that HEART 9/11 can repair on future responses. Our assessment team consists of FDNY Rescue and FEMA Task Force members and Local 79 Ecuadorian-American demolition experts. The HEART 9/11 team arrived in Guayaquil today – Monday afternoon – boots on the ground. Thank you Luis Tavara from Hogar de Cristo for arranging transportation for the HEART 9/11 assessment team. HEART 9/11 is respected, skilled and experienced in disaster response and is proud to collaborate with Perkins Eastman Architects DPC, IIASA CAT Guayaquil, JRC Advisors, LLC, the US Embassy in Ecuador, along with Hogar de Cristo to establish a long term rebuild strategy. Watch for updates.
