HEART 9/11 deployed 3 Hurricane Irma Response Teams to Tampa, Naples, and the Keys. Crews assisted local Fire Departments, Police Departments, IAFF with clearing roads, debris removal, gutting of contaminated homes and assessing community needs. Two HEART 9/11 equipment trailers working in Beaumont, TX on the Hurricane Harvey Response relocated to Florida and met team in the Keys. Relationships were established with JetBlue, Home Depot, American Express who made significant contributions to our responses. HEART 9/11 Hurricane Irma Response Teams repaired the roofs of 21 homes, removed trees, tarped roofs along with mucking-out damaged first responder homes. HEART 9/11 provided 990 hours of skilled volunteer expertise. The HEART 9/11 Hurricane Irma RRT drove in a military convoy and was one of the first groups to reach the Florida Keys with FEMA.
