Whittier College Poets for Puerto Rico Fundraising Campaign
With the recent wave of hurricanes that have hit the Caribbean, Puerto Rico was left completely devastated. 3.4 million people were left without their homes, power, phone lines, safe water and food.
Despite all of that, the people of Puerto Rico will not be defeated! They have remained resilient, strong and determined. From the beginning it was the community that came together to survive! We must be more connected now than ever before. What the people of Puerto Rico need to know is that they are not alone!
The power is in the hands of the community!
Please join our Whittier College community as we launch “Poets Por Puerto Rico”, a college wide effort to raise awareness and support for our loved ones on the island. As the months roll by, the people of Puerto Rico will continue on their path to rebuild. Their unwavering resilience and strength must be met with our continuous love and support.
Help us build a more powerful community, whether you are on or off our campus, we need your support!
Please join Poets Por Puerto Rico in helping our loved ones rebuild their beautiful homeland.
Your generous donation will allow HEART 9/11 – a team of first responders from the NYPD, FDNY, PAPD and the NYC Building Trades that bonded in the aftermath of September 11, 2001 – to utilize their training and expertise to help the people and communities in Puerto Rico that were impacted by Hurricane Maria. All donations are tax deductible.
HEART 9/11 is a non-governmental, non-sectarian all volunteer disaster response organization. Contributions to HEART 9/11, a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, are deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
