About HEART 9/11

HEART 9/11 members from the FDNY, NYPD, PAPD and the NYC Building Trades, recognized the world over, have come to define the safety, security, and spirit of New York City. These are the men and women we trust in times of triumph and tragedy. They were brought to their knees, but came together at Ground Zero – First Responders and Building Trade Members alike – to recover and rebuild. These are the expert volunteers of HEART 9/11. Founded in 2007, HEART 9/11 is now over 2,335 total force volunteers strong — an expert-led, volunteer-driven, non-profit disaster relief organization committed to a mission of rebuilding communities and rebuilding lives of individuals coping with disasters and related trauma, including our returning veterans. HEART 9/11’s volunteer professionals leverage their unparalleled experience, to support, supplement and transfer skill and knowledge to suffering communities in the same spirit that the world supported our community of New York City after September 11, 2001.

SOMOS UNA VOZ is an alliance of artists working together to rush food, shelter, medicine, power, and communications to those in need from the effects of recent natural disasters.
