Manny Medals
HEART 9/11 met Manny Jimenez last year in Glastonbury, CT when we partnered with our friends from Purple Heart Homes and the community of Glastonbury to build him a home. Since then he has become a HEART 9/11 project manager working in Gerritsen Beach over seeing our Hurricane Sandy response. Manny participated in the 2013 Warrior Games May 11-16, 2013, held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. More than 200 wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans participated in seven sports (archery, cycling, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, track and field and wheelchair basketball). Athletes represented Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Special Operations as well as the British Armed Forces. Teams competed in seven sports including archery, cycling, shooting, sitting-volleyball, swimming, track & field and wheelchair basketball.

Manny had outstanding results in the events he participated – Gold Medal in the 1500m run, 6th in 100m run, 5th in the 200m run, 9th in mens shot put, 9th in mens discus, 11th in men disability 30k cycling.

When Manny isn’t working in Gerritsen Beach he enjoys rock climbing and Traversing The Enchantments in Seattle, WA. 9/11 is proud to have him on our team.
