As busy as our Domestic Disaster Response Teams have been in Brooklyn and Queens on Saturday, April 20, 2013, HEART 9/11’s International Response Team will once again travel to Haiti to build the first firehouse in Fond Parisien, and in the months to come, provide EMT education and training to members of the community. The firehouse will be staffed by young Haitians who will protect the homes, clinic, pharmacy and schools that HEART 9/11 has built in this community.

The firehouse is the final step towards HEART 9/11’s next and largest initiative to build a marketplace in Fond Parisien. The marketplace will provide employment opportunities to these community members, whom we have already empowered through our previous rebuilding efforts, to better educate, care for and protect their community.

Since January of 2010 HEART 9/11 has executed over sixteen successful missions assisting the people in urban Port-Au-Prince and in the mountain community of Fond Parisien, Haiti thanks to the support from Jefferies & Co. Beyond rebuilding, HEART 9/11 has trained community members in construction, as part of the organization’s ongoing Apprentice Training Program. We hope with your efforts to continue making an impact in a community we have grown to love.

We have created a new fundraising campaign

to support this current mission.

Make a difference in the world. Support our work.
