In December, The Robin Hood Foundation launched a large-scale relief effort following the 12/12/12 Madison Square Garden Concert to aid communities in the

tri-state area whose lives had been shattered by Hurricane Sandy. HEART 9/11 received a grant to sheetrock and insulate homes in Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn and surrounding areas.

The Robin Hood Foundation has requested HEART 9/11 to double the amount of homes we will rebuild in Brooklyn and Queens by awarding HEART 9/11 an additional grant. With help from the NY Building Trades Council, the Carpenters Union Apprentice Program, Laborers Local 79, NY State District Council 9 IUPAT, Painters and Allied Trades, HEART 9/11 will be able to finish the work we started October 30, 2012…the rebuilding of homes and lives of victims of Hurricane Sandy.

We are very proud that the Robin Hood Foundation recognizes the outstanding work done by HEART 9/11 and the extraordinary impact that we have had in the devastated community of Gerritsen Beach.

Taking care of our own - sharing the hard learned lessons of our 9/11 experience.
