“There is no stronger force than an individual who wants to make a difference.”
Dear Members and Supporters,
Together we enter this holiday season, a season of love and sharing along with the hopes of what the new year will bring. As friends and family celebrate their holy days, we are reminded that we share a common bond which transcends our generation and reaches back to remind us of holiday miracles.
H.E.A.R.T. 9/11 would like to thank and celebrate its Members and Supporters – the first responders, families, loved ones and laborers whose bond was forged on September 12, and beyond – making miracles happen for those who believe that we can help ourselves by helping others.
Our memories and grief were again amplified by the 10th Anniversary which was a reminder that the process of healing is ongoing. However, humanity was amplified as well. It is this glimmer of light that H.E.A.R.T. 9/11 carries forward.
In 2011 H.E.A.R.T. 9/11 has continued its post disaster recovery missions in Haiti, assisted communities in the tri-state area with Hurricane Irene relief, worked with the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum and responded to the floods in Nashville, TN. We have also partnered with the Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma to assess the positive psychological impact of H.E.A.R.T. 9/11 services on mass trauma victims.
In 2012 we will be continuing our response in Haiti, developing and implementing an EMS Training course with St. Johns University, constructing a pharmacy to support our Emergency Mobile Response Teams and anticipating responses to major disasters here in the United States.
There are two additional significant anniversaries we will celebrate in 2012 – The 10th Anniversary of the Completed WTC Rescue and Recovery Mission, and the 5th Anniversary of H.E.A.R.T. 9/11. As a rapidly expanding organization, we continue to manifest the fact that resiliency is contagious.
Today, H.E.A.R.T. 9/11 is 400 strong and has touched the lives of thousands of people. Imagine how many more lives we could touch if more people knew our story…
We’re issuing a Facebook challenge to get to at least 1000 “Likes” by 2012. Here is how you can help right now:
* “Like” us
* “Share” H.E.A.R.T. 9/11 with 3 Facebook friends
* Donate your Facebook status – that you too “Support H.E.A.R.T. 9/11: Honoring our fallen brothers and sisters with every future disaster victim helped.”
Further, any contribution you make right now will allow us to save lives and heal others during disasters, as we were helped during the 9/11 period.
* Donate $31 for the month of December (or $12 or $1). Visit heart911.org to donate online. A small amount given regularly can help us achieve a lot over the course of a year and beyond.
