Dear Members and Supporters,
On behalf of the H.E.A.R.T. 9/11 Board of Directors and Executive Board,
I would like to personally wish each of you a very happy Thanksgiving. We have much to be thankful for as we move past the Tenth Anniversary and look forward to assisting people in critical need in the wake of future disasters. I know that every H.E.A.R.T. 9/11 team member has come away from a disaster response-whether it be the Gulf Coast, Port Au Prince, Haiti or in our own backyards during Hurricane Irene- feeling good about assisting but also counting their blessings. We have a renewed appreciation for the basic yet critical things that are overlooked every day – electricity, running water or clean food that is safe to eat. Most importantly, Thanksgiving is a time to appreciate our families and friends, and to cherish the time spent with loved ones. We have all learned from the experience of 9/11 that we need to celebrate life and cherish every moment.
The H.E.A.R.T. 9/11 team will soon be returning to Haiti to build a pharmacy to support our Emergency Mobile Response Teams, and we are developing plans to rebuild a 60-bed psychiatric hospital in Port Au Prince, Haiti.
