Hurricane Idalia Perry, FL Response

HEART 9/11 dispatched a Team from South Florida to assist the victims of Hurricane Idalia in Perry, Florida. The team, all experienced disaster response members, began their work as soon as they arrived in Perry, FL, set up their base camp, contacted local authorities, and collected tasks to be completed. The Rise Disaster Relief & Recovery Team joined HEART 9/11 volunteers. They worked clearing debris, trees, and limbs from the residents’ houses, allowing them to access their homes. For many, it would be the first time since Idalia hit. HEART 9/11 prioritizes assistance to First Responders, clearing their homes while working their shifts and providing essential services to their hard-hit community. Many of these First Responders must wait for a day off to work on the storm’s effects on their homes, which may not come for days after the storm has hit. HEART 9/11 visited 25 residences in the area, providing services to those in need.
