HEART 9/11 completed week 7 of the 8 week training for the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at MGH SMART Program. In October, nine HEART 9/11 members began working with the Harvard School of Medicine and Benson-Henry Institute (BHI) to develop a first responder mental health program. The team will begin to draft a new HEART 9/11 Program to address the wellness of first responders. The core belief of the BHI is that teaching patients mind body approach like meditation and yoga can reduce their stress and improve overall physical health. HEART 9/11 members are the only non-clinicians to be accepted into this program. Newtown-Sandy Hook Community Foundation is supporting the training and development of the HEART-SMART Program.
